Spot the signals.
Keep the story private.

LOCAL INTELLIGENCEHUMAN JUDGMENT
01 / LOCAL INTELLIGENCE

Insight without a cloud copy.

Review available content with on-device AI. Your family’s message previews and media are not uploaded to Vela or a cloud AI provider for analysis.

02 / PRIVATE SHARING

From their phone to yours.

Approved findings travel encrypted over nearby Bluetooth. Keep the finding archive on your phones, with Parent access required for review.

03 / CONNECTED CONTEXT

See how the signals relate.

Explore interactive finding networks, app-activity charts and optional Gemma 4 commentary on the protected phone. Turn available evidence into a more informed check-in.

THE VELA ADVANTAGE

Powerful analysis.
A smaller data footprint.

Keep sensitive analysis on the phone and the finding archive with your family. Explore the path from a visible signal to a private check-in.

ON-DEVICE AI

The phone does the thinking.

Bundled AI examines available content locally. Message previews and media are not sent to Vela or a cloud AI provider for this analysis.

Local content analysis does not mean the whole phone is offline. Google Play delivery, optional Google source connections, normal DNS requests and external links use their providers’ networks. Read the data-use details ↗

NOTICE

Find a reason to check in.

Local text analysis looks for concerning language around bullying, coercion, scams and other safety themes in available previews and shared content. Findings keep supporting context close at hand.

UNDERSTAND

Put patterns in perspective.

Explore related findings across enabled sources. Interactive graphs reveal word-pattern relationships; activity charts show foreground time, sessions and late-night use on the protected phone.

CHOOSE

Build the setup that fits.

Review permissions together, enable the sources you need and customize the look with rich palettes and optional aurora motion. Visible controls help make monitoring an understood part of family life.

COMPARE THE APPROACH

Privacy you can
put side by side.

Vela’s advantage is local content intelligence and direct family sharing. Compare that with the remote services and coverage other tools offer.

Encryption matters. Where data lives matters, too. Bark also documents encryption. Vela’s distinction is the local analysis and direct nearby transfer path, with no Vela cloud finding archive.

This is a feature and architecture comparison, not an accuracy or security ranking. Coverage varies by device, plan and permissions. The reviewed sources do not establish whether competitors offer an equivalent interactive relationship graph. Vela’s AI can miss concerns or flag harmless material.

EXPLORE THE CAPABILITIES

Your sources.
Your choices.

See what each feature can access and how to make it useful for your family.

Messages Android makes visible

With notification access enabled, Protect checks incoming and updated notification previews on the protected phone. Hidden, muted, outgoing, deleted and disappearing content may be unavailable. It cannot open another app’s private messages or bypass encryption.

Photos and things you choose to share

Review selected photos, text, short audio and bounded video samples locally. A guardian can separately enable eligible shared-library photo checks. App-private and cloud-only media may be unavailable. A finding is a reason to review, never proof of a person’s age, identity or intent.

App activity, patterns and context

Optional Android Usage Access powers interactive foreground-time and session charts. Explore relationships between recent findings and request on-device AI commentary. Similarities suggest topics for a conversation; they do not establish a shared person, cause or harm. Activity reports stay on the protected phone.

Optional web and location signals

A separately enabled Web Shield can flag DNS domain contacts and block supported curated domains. It cannot read encrypted pages or search content. Visible, parent-enabled trip sessions can retain location observations. Permissions, phone settings and Android scheduling can leave gaps.

Google sources, with separate consent

The app includes optional, read-only reviews for Gmail, Calendar, Google Docs and Tasks. Each requires the account owner’s Google consent and publisher configuration. Reviews are started by the guardian and have item limits. These connections are not yet qualified for the public beta and are not continuous account monitoring.
